What is REKO?
Distribution model for local food
REKO (rejäl konsumtion – fair consumption) is a distribution model for locally produced food, in which consumers order directly from producers without middlemen. The products are locally, ethically and mostly ecologically produced. Thus, you’ll know the origin of your food as well as promote small producers and the local economy in general.
REKO orders and deliveries are coordinated through closed Facebook groups. The groups decide a given place and time for distribution, in which consumers pick up and pay for their products. REKO was founded by Thomas Snellman in 2013 and has during the last year expanded immensely. Now it consists of 150 groups and a total of 200 000 users only in Finland.
